What the fee funds

Fees pay for verification, standards development and public infrastructure.

Why fees are stated openly

Membership fees are published because the price of a professional standard should not be a private negotiation. Every applicant sees the same schedule; every renewing member is charged against the same table. Where a tier is by invitation rather than by payment, the page says so, and the basis for invitation is described in the relevant tier's documentation.

A member should be able to explain to a client, in one sentence, what their fee actually purchased.

What the fee is

The annual fee funds four things: the verification work carried out at the applicable tier, the drafting and consultation cycles that produce the standards framework, the public infrastructure — directory, changelog, consultation records — that keeps the Association's work legible, and the administrative overhead required to run a lawful membership body across multiple jurisdictions.

Higher tiers cost more because they require more work: a deeper evidence review, a longer verification file and a more detailed public profile. The fee reflects the cost of that work, not the market value of a badge.

What the fee is not

The fee is not a purchase of directory placement above other members. It is not a route around the eligibility criteria or the Code of Professional Conduct. It does not buy an aircraft safety endorsement, a government approval, or immunity from the complaints process. A member who fails to meet their obligations does not retain their tier because their fee is paid.

Billing, taxes and refunds

Fees are stated in Euros and exclude any applicable taxes. Where local law requires the addition of VAT or a similar tax, that tax appears on the invoice and is remitted in accordance with the applicable rules. Fees are billed annually unless a monthly option is offered for a specific tier; changes between tiers are prorated so that a member upgrading mid-cycle is not charged twice for the same period.

Where a membership is withdrawn for cause, fees paid for the current period are not refunded. Where the Association terminates a membership without cause — for example, if a tier is discontinued — the unused portion of the fee is refunded on a pro-rata basis.

Choosing the right tier

Most applicants begin at the tier that matches the depth of evidence they are ready to produce. A brokerage new to the framework often starts at Registered while it aligns its engagement documents and internal records with the standards; a brokerage with mature records typically applies directly to Professional or Certified. The member benefits and obligations pages describe what each tier receives and what it is expected to do in return.
