Air brokers: the GCBA directory of air charter brokers.
An air broker arranges charter flights between a client and a licensed air carrier. This directory holds independent, structured profiles for air charter brokers worldwide — searchable by country, region and specialisation, each with an explicit, revocable status.
What an air broker is — and is not.
An air broker (also called an air charter broker) is a professional intermediary who sources aircraft, negotiates price and terms and manages a charter booking on behalf of a client. The broker contracts with the client; the flight itself is performed by a licensed air carrier that holds the Air Operator Certificate, employs the crew and exercises operational control.
That distinction is the whole basis of the profession. A broker who blurs it — advertising "our fleet", implying certification it does not hold, or withholding the operating carrier's identity — is misrepresenting the service. See broker vs operator and illegal charter.
Air brokers in the passenger charter market should not be confused with cargo or freight air brokers, who arrange aircraft capacity for goods, or with aviation insurance brokers, who place risk rather than flights.

A public listing with a stated review methodology and revocable statuses.
The GCBA directory is a structured record of independent air charter brokers. It is not a booking engine, an operator marketplace or a paid-placement service. Every profile is displayed in the same layout, in the same order determined by the filters and sort chosen by the visitor, and every profile carries an explicit status label — Unclaimed, Claimed, Registered, Professional, Certified or Founding.
A status is a claim the Association is willing to publish and defend. It says what has been verified, when it was last reviewed and against what evidence. Where a status changes — because information is updated, disputed or shown to be inaccurate — the profile changes with it, and the change is logged. Status is a public artefact, not an internal grade.
“The value of a directory is not the number of profiles it lists. It is the confidence a reader can place in each label attached to each profile.”
What each status means
Unclaimed profiles are drawn from public sources and have not been contacted by, or contacted, the Association. The company can claim its profile at any time, without cost, to correct or expand the record. Everything above Unclaimed reflects a specific verification step recorded against the profile.
Registered confirms that a real broker is behind the profile and has accepted the Code of Professional Conduct. Professional adds a verification review against public sources. Certified adds a review of the brokerage's own documented practices — charter agreements, operator due diligence, client-funds handling, complaints. Founding is honorific and independent of the verification ladder.
What the directory does not do
GCBA does not rate aircraft, operators or flight safety. A directory listing at any tier is not a substitute for regulatory approval, insurance advice or an independent safety audit of the operating carrier. It is a professional-conduct record of the intermediary, and only that.
Corrections and disputes
Anyone — a broker, a client, an operator, a member of the public — can report information about a profile. Reports are triaged against the published review methodology, and material findings are published with the profile. Where a dispute cannot be resolved on the record, the profile carries a visible note until it can be.

Common questions about air brokers.
What is an air broker?
An air broker is an intermediary who arranges aircraft charter between a client and a licensed air carrier. The broker sources aircraft, negotiates price and terms and manages the booking; it does not own the aircraft, employ the crew or hold operational control of the flight.
What is the difference between an air broker and an operator?
The operator holds the Air Operator Certificate, employs the crew and exercises operational control. The air broker contracts with the client and places the flight with that operator. Only the operator can lawfully hold out the aircraft for hire as a carrier.
Are air brokers regulated?
Rules vary by jurisdiction. In the United States, air charter brokers are subject to Department of Transportation rules covering disclosure and unfair or deceptive practices. In many other countries brokers are not separately licensed, which is why published conduct standards and transparent profiles matter.
What does a GCBA directory listing mean?
It means a structured, publicly documented profile exists for that company and carries an explicit status showing what has been verified and when. It is not a safety rating, an operator certification or a government endorsement.
How do I choose an air charter broker?
Check that the company identifies itself as a broker, names the operating carrier before you pay, can describe its operator due diligence, uses a written charter agreement and has a published complaints route.
